1. Hajimemashite.
   How do you do. / Pleased to see you.
2. Ohayoo gozaimasu.
   Good morning.
3. Konnichiwa.
   Good afternoon. / Hello.
4. Konbanwa.
   Good evening.
5. Mata ashita.
   See you tomorrow.
6. Osoku natte suimasen.
   I'm sorry for being late.
7. Tanaka-san ni yoroshiku.
   Please say hello to Tanaka.
8. Odenwa, arigatoo gozaimasu.
   Thank you for calling. (O in O-denwa is a prefix indicating politeness)
9. Kochira wa tomodachi no Tanaka-san desu.
   This is my friend Mr. Tanaka.
10. Dochirasama desu ka?
   Who is it? / Can I have your name please? (used for a phone or at a door)
11. Doozo ohairi kudasai.
   Please come in.
12. Doozo kochirae.
   Come here, please.
13. Doozo osuwari kudasai.
   Please have a seat.
14. Wain wa ikaga desu ka?
   How about some wine?
15. Itadakimasu.
   Yes, please. (reply to an offer for a drink or food) / Let's eat! (said before a meal or eating something.)
16. Chotto matte kudasai.
   Just a second. / Hold on, please.
17. Chizu o kaite kuremasen ka?
   Can you draw a map?
18. Annaisho o okutte kuremasen ka?
   Can you send me a guidebook?
19. Denwa-bangoo o oshiete kuremasen ka?
   Could you tell me your phone number?
20. Kore no tsukai-kata o oshiete kuremasen ka?
   Can you tell me how to use this?
21. Kono tegami o yakushite kuremasen ka?
   Can you translate this letter?
22. Mado o aketemo ii desu ka?
   May I open the window?
23. Mado o shimetemo ii desu ka?
   May I close the windows?
24. Pen o karitemo ii desu ka?
   May I use (lit. borrow) the pen?
25. Suimasen. / Sumimasen.
   Excuse me. / I'm sorry (Suimasen is a colloquial of Sumimasen)
26. Suimasen. Chotto tetsudatte kuremasen ka?
   Can you give me a hand? / Can you help me?
27. Suimasen. Mooichido itte kuremasen ka?
   Say it again, please.
28. Dekirudake hayaku onegai shimasu.
   Please (do it) as soon as possible.
29. Ima nan-ji desu ka?
   What time is it now?
30. Toire wa doko desu ka?
   Where is the toilets?
31. Dooyatte ittara ii desu ka?
   How can I get there? (lit. how can I go there)
32. Yamada-san no denwa-bangoo, wakarimasu ka?
   Do you know Yamada-san's phone number?
